A little more than two weeks after a Cobb County deputy was arrested in connection with the alleged sexual assault of a female inmate, a second deputy has been accused of the same thing. An internal investigation initiated after the Jan. 18 arrest of Alvin Blake Sutherland uncovered more alleged misconduct involving another deputy, according to WSB-TV. A Cobb County deputy from Douglasville has been accused of sexually assaulting a female inmate, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. A warrant alleges Deputy Alvin Blake Sutherland, 51, made physical contact with an unamed female inmate at the Cobb jail on Jan. 11. Sutherland is charged with aggravated sodomy, aggravated sexual battery, sexual assault by a member of law enforcement, and violation of oath of public office, according to the report. Arrest records indicate that Sutherland remains in the Douglas County jail. Bond is expected to be set at $100,000, according to the AJC.

A Marietta coach/trainer was arrested for multiple sexual assaults against a minor at his office at the Champion Softball Complex over a two-year time frame.
Isuru Pasan Perera, 31, of Marietta was arrested for multiple sexual offenses against a minor. Perera was taken into custody without incident on Saturday, Sept. 8, and is being held without bond at the Cobb County Jail, according to Marietta Police. The original incident occurred in June of 2010 when the female juvenile victim attended the Champion Softball Complex located at 505 Commerce Park Drive, according to Marietta Police. Perera, who was the victim’s coach/trainer, used his position to "coerce and intimidate the victim to commit multiple sexual acts against her," Police said. A 14-year-old Marietta girl has told police a man sexually assaulted her after school Tuesday. The girl was waiting for a Cobb Community Transit bus at the corner of Powder Springs and Sandtown roads when she instead took an offer of a ride from a man who pulled up next to her, Marietta police spokesman Officer David Baldwin told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution and WSB-TV. The man drove her somewhere, believed to be within the city limits, roughed her up and raped her, WSB reported, citing the police and the girl's mother. Extensive interviews with the girl and her mother helped police identify a person of interest in the case, the AJC said.
