Two Burlington Coat Factory employees have admitted that they took items from the store without paying for them. Anthony Hester and Alkini Patterson each face a charge of theft by taking in connection with the alleged incidents, according to online jail records. Hester of Powder Springs "was witnessed via store surveillance over the last three months to present taking multiple items from the store where he worked," a Marietta police officer wrote in a Cobb County criminal warrant. Store surveillance also captured Patterson of Marietta allegedly taking items from the store over a period of one month, records show. Ex-assistant men's basketball coach Millard Thomas Dillon faces a charge of theft by taking.
An arrest warrant has been issued for a former Southern Polytechnic State University assistant men's basketball coach on a charge of theft by taking. Millard Thomas Dillon of Kennesaw allegedly took $4,021 in cash registration fees, "and did keep the fees for his own use, depriving the university of the funds," according to a Cobb County criminal warrant. The alleged theft occurred between June 4 and July 26, records show. Dillon was employed at Southern Poly from July 6, 2009 until Oct. 2, 2012, school spokeswoman Diane Payne said in an email to Patch. He was led to believe that his grandson had been arrested and the funds were for his bail.
A grandfather was scammed out of more than $12,000 that he thought was going toward his grandson's bail. According to a Cobb County criminal warrant, the grandfather "was made to believe that the grandson had been arrested." But authorities said that was a lie. The money, they said, didn't go to the man's grandson. It went to Lizabeth Leigh Crawford of Marietta. She allegedly received and withdrew $6,250 from her Wells Fargo checking account on April 18, according to the warrant. Monday, she withdrew an additional $6,500 from the account. She was arrested Monday afternoon at the Wells Fargo branch at 2055 Cobb Dr. SE on charges that include two counts of theft by taking.
