Community Leaders Arrested in the Wild West

Arrests, fast-draw demonstrations, old-time cooking, pony rides and other activities brought the Wild West alive at Jim Miller Park on Saturday.

The second annual Wild West Fest at Jim R. Miller Park on Saturday showcased cowboys and cowgirls, gunslingers, fast-draw demonstrations by RedDoc Entertainment and lasso lessons. There were around one thousand people in attendance for the Wild West Fest, and the event is expected to raise between $17,000 and $19,000. As part of the event, local celebrities agreed to be "arrested" and "raise bail" for the libraries. Mike Boyce, Tony Britton, Sheila Jones, Mark Mathews, Bob Ott, RJ Patel, Van Pearlberg, Woody Thompson and Bob Weatherfor were named this year's “bad guys” and put in jail at the event on Saturday. They will continue to raise funds over the next couple of weeks, Mary Ellen Leffard, of the Cobb Library Foundation, said. …

Come out to Jim Miller Park in Marietta for the second annual Wild West Fest and 30th year of the Cobb Library used book sale.

The second annual Wild West Fest takes place in the equestrian center at Jim R. Miller Park on Saturday, March 24 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. All proceeds are designated to fund programs and services of Cobb County Libraries. There will be over 10 activities that repeat throughout the day for kids. Even the Cobb Sheriff’s department will participate with a horse posse parade at 11 a.m.. When guests get thirsty, just stroll over to the Cactus Rose Saloon for some cool lemonade, and pose for photos taken by an authentic 1800s photographer. Witness sheriff deputies arresting the “bad guys” (local celebrities and community leaders) and taking them to the jail-house on site. Wild West Fest for the Libraries

A saloon, an 1800s photographer, gunslingers, fast-draw demonstrations, lasso lessons, cowboys and cowgirls, music and more will come to Jim Miller Park in Marietta.

Join the Cobb Library Foundation for a fun-filled day with the second annual Wild West Fest in the equestrian center at Jim R. Miller Park on Saturday, March 24. All proceeds are designated to fund programs and services of Cobb County Libraries. Cowboys and cowgirls, gunslingers, fast-draw demonstrations by RedDoc Entertainment and lasso lessons are among the adventures planned. Attendees can listen to cowboy music from The Cartersville Songwriters Exchange, watch a medicine show and visit Doc Griffin’s Chuckwagon to see how ranch hands cook.
