Marietta City Schools (MCS) and Zaxby’s Restaurant are teaming up to raise funds to benefit the district’s Marietta Reads! literacy initiative. The Marietta Reads! Fundraiser night at Zaxby’s Marietta, located at 1347 Church Street Ext., is Thursday, April 25 from 5 - 8 p.m. Eat at Zaxby’s Marietta Thursday evening and 10 percent of total sales during fundraiser night go toward Marietta Reads! Marietta Reads! is a citywide effort to foster reading and literacy. The purpose of this initiative is to encourage Marietta City School students to read more, read better and read widely. Marietta City Schools and Zaxby’s Restaurant are teaming up to raise funds to benefit the district’s Marietta Reads! literacy initiative. The Marietta Reads! Fundraiser night at Zaxby’s Marietta, at 1347 Church Street Ext., is Thursday, March 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Ten percent of total sales during the fundraiser night go toward Marietta Reads! “We are thrilled to partner with Zaxby’s for this Marietta Reads! fundraiser,” said Jill Sims, MCS Executive Director, Curriculum and Instruction. “This event directly supports the literacy initiatives at Marietta City Schools that help provide books for classroom libraries and school media centers.” Marietta Reads! is a citywide effort to foster reading and literacy in the community. Each item on an inspection form has a point value ranging from 1 to 9 points, with violations deducting points from a best possible score of 100. A sample inspection form is attached. Higher points are taken for items with higher risk to cause illness, while repeat violations take even more points. Letter grades assigned are A for totals of 100 to 90 points, B for 89 to 80, C for 79 to 70, and U for less than 70.

Zaxby's is warning customers of a potential security breach that may have resulted in unauthorized access to credit and debit card information. Certain licensed locations have identified suspicious files on their system which "have been identified by credit card processing companies as common points of purchase for some fraudulent activity." The Marietta Zaxby's at 3030 Johsnon Ferry Rd, 2500 Barrett Creek Blvd. NW and 730 Johnson Ferry Rd. are among the affected locations. According to a statement released by Zaxby's, the restaurant chain has notified the appropriate authorities and will continue to cooperate with the investigation. A Marietta Zaxby's is holding a Repeat Day today. Any guest who purchases food and brings their receipt back between Oct. 22 and Nov. 4 will receive the exact same thing for free.
The Zaxby's location at 2080 Lower Roswell Road in Marietta (off the 120 Loop, across from the library and down the road from Sedalia Park and East Valley Elementary) is having a Repeat Day on Monday, Oct. 8. What is a Repeat Day at Zaxby's? Any guest who purchases food (any amount) on Monday and brings their receipt from that day back between Oct. 22 and Nov. 4 will receive the exact same thing for free. This is a one-time redemption and customers must have their receipt.

Construction is underway on Marietta’s fifth Zaxby’s restaurant at 1347 Church Street Extension, in front of Kennestone Hospital. The new restaurant will create an additional 50 to 60 jobs for the area. “We’ve always wanted to bring a Zaxby’s to this area of Marietta,” said Licensee Dustin Mullis, who grew up working in the fast-casual restaurant industry. Mullis, with partners Greg Shumate, Alex Koutouzis and Gregg Litchfield, plan to open the new quick-casual restaurant later this spring.
