Marietta Burn Ban Starts Today

The ban is issued by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and affects the city of Marietta and 54 counties.

The annual statewide ban on open burning begins May 1. The ban is issued by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources and affects the city of Marietta and 54 counties. During the ban period, residents cannot burn leaves, tree limbs, forestland or use air curtain destructors for land clearing. Recreational fires are allowed, Marietta Fire assistant chief Scott Tucker said. "Residents can call the department, and we will walk them through the process." The Georgia Environmental Protection Division (EPD) imposes a ban on outdoor burning to comply with federal clean air regulations. Cobb Outdoor Burning Allowed

Open burning is allowed Oct. 1 through April 30 of each year in Cobb County.

Open burning is allowed Oct. 1 through April 30 of each year in Cobb County. During this time, you may burn limited yard debris (leaves, pine straw, and small limbs from growth on your property) and land clearing using an air curtain destructor.
