Cobb County Police say the Collins Hill High School grad's gold ring was sold to a store at Cumberland Mall for $144. Cobb Police have arrested a suspect.

WNBA star Maya Moore reportedly had her U.S. Olympic gold medalist ring stolen, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The ring later turned up at a Gold Rush jewelry store at the Cumberland Mall. Moore grew up in Lawrenceville and is a Collins Hill High School graduate. She currently plays for the Minnesota Lynx with whom she won a championship in 2011. According to the AJC, Cobb County Police arrested Jamaal Dontray Taylor, 19, of Marietta. Police say Taylor claimed the ring belonged to him when he sold it to the the jewelry store for $144 in November. The jeweler later called police, and Taylor was arrested in December. Cobb authorities have released the identity of the deceased driver who was involved in the fatal crash occurred that Friday evening at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Akers Mill Road near Cumberland Mall in Vinings. Warrren Thomas of Atlanta, 59, was pronounced dead upon his arrival at Kennestone Hospital after the crash. Thomas was attempting to turn right onto Cobb Parkway from Akers Mill Road on a red light when he was struck by a maroon 1999 Mitsubishi Montero, driven by 35-year-old Viengkhong Thilakhoun of Atlanta. After his vehicle was hit, he continued on in an easterly direction where he was struck a second time by a gray 2012 Toyota Camry, driven by 26-year-old Shawnta Herrington of Marietta, while the Mitsubishi overturned …

A man died after a Friday night crash where his Chevrolet was struck twice at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Akers Mill Road near Cumberland Mall in Vinings.
A fatal crash occurred Friday evening at the intersection of Cobb Parkway and Akers Mill Road near Cumberland Mall in Vinings, according to the Cobb County Police Department. Investigators said that the driver of a gray 2009 Chevrolet Impala was attempting to turn right onto Cobb Parkway from Akers Mill Road on a red light when he was struck by a maroon 1999 Mitsubishi Montero. After it was hit, the Chevrolet continued on in an easterly direction where it was struck a second time by a gray 2012 Toyota Camry, while the Mitsubishi overturned on its roof and came to an uncontrolled rest in the southbound lanes of Cobb Parkway, said Cobb police spokesman Dana Pierce.
