The Atlanta Police Department is investigating allegations that Waffle House CEO Joe W. Rogers Jr. repeatedly forced an Acworth woman to perform sex acts on him during her time as Rogers' personal assistant. Mye Brindle worked out of Rogers' Buckhead home as his assistant from 2003 until May 2012. It was at that Chatham Road home that the 43-year-old Acworth single mother said most of the alleged acts occurred, according to an Atlanta Police incident report. More than two months after Brindle resigned, Rogers sued her on Sept. 14 in Cobb County Superior Court. Brindle countered with a suit of her own on Sept. 19 in Fulton County State Court. Weekend Spotlight: Santa Arrives

Get ready for Santa's first stop in Cobb County at Town Center Mall in Kennesaw.

This week's Cobb, Douglas and Paulding Weekend Spotlight features Santa's Arrival at Town Center at Cobb. Santa Claus makes his first stop of the season Friday evening in Kennesaw. Festivities take place from 6-8 p.m. in Center Court and include entertainment by Radio Disney, face painting, holiday activities and more. A Hiram man is facing a list of charges from authorities in Alabama; three people were arrested in Dillard's department store at Perimeter Mall—take a look at headlines from around the region.

Oscar winners George Clooney and Julia Roberts have filed suit against a Kennesaw company that they claim used their images without permission. The suit against Digital Projection Inc. was filed Friday in federal court in Atlanta, according to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Roberts and Clooney want the court to block the company’s continued use of the images, according to the AJC. The images, the pair said, have allegedly appeared in advertising, brochures, newsletters, emails and on Digital Projection Inc.'s website. A Hiram man is facing a list of charges from authorities more than 200 miles away from Paulding County. Swift-Cantrell Goes to the Dogs

Paws in the Park will feature service dog demonstrations, information on pet care and a dog parade.

It will be a dog’s day in Kennesaw on Saturday, Sept. 15, when pups and their owners come together for a day of fun. Paws in the Park will be held from 9 a.m.-noon, rain or shine, at Swift-Cantrell Park. Presented by Dream Land Pet Memorial Center and hosted by Keep Kennesaw Beautiful and Georgia K9 National Training Center, Paws in the Park aims to promote good pet behavior, provide educational materials about responsible pet ownership and teach owners how to dispose of pet waste properly for a cleaner and safer city. Friday night come by the opening reception for an exhibit that explores the theme of romance through the work of 15 artists at 2 Rules Fine Art.

Just in time for Valentine’s Day, 2 Rules Fine Art has a show that explores the theme of romance and how our concept of love has been shaped by mass-media society. The Friday, Feb. 3, opening reception for Love and Commercialism will be held at 85 Church St. from 6 to 9 p.m. The event is free and open to the public and will include live music and refreshments. Stop by 2 Rules Fine Art through Feb. 24, and see pieces from 15 artists whose works explore the concept of romance through fine art and design. The tattoo and piercing studio Lucky Draw Tattoo on Marietta Square provides professional service with a "spa-type atmosphere" and a gallery of local art.

Lucky Draw Tattoo has three tattoo and piercing studios with its newest location making its home on Marietta Square since July 2011. Part of what sets this tattoo parlor apart is its gallery, which features art from the artists who work at Lucky Draw as well as local artists such as Michael Leidel, Lincoln Stone and Elizabeth Semanisin. Lucky Draw tries to provide its visitors, "a spa-type atmosphere and a nicer tattoo shop to go to than normal," owner Phillip Duke said. From Peachtree to Kennesaw

The land north of the Chattahoochee was once home to the Cherokee Nation.

The year is 1820. A man traveling from what is now downtown Atlanta through land that would become Cobb County would encounter scenery that is much different from today, though some of the names might sound familiar. Setting out from the Muscogee Creek village at Standing Peachtree, he would make his way along the Peachtree road–a footpath cut through the underbrush over the centuries. Instead of cement and glass, the skyline would consist of trees and hilltops, thick and green and devoid of kudzu. If our traveler were going northeast, he might pass the beaver ruin. Instead, he crosses the Chattahoochee at the shallow ford. In doing so, he leaves Creek territory and enters the Cherokee Nation.  A full day’s walk will bring him to the …
