Man Airlifted With Severe Injuries; Massive Business Fire in Midtown

Jacob Elisha Downer, 29 of Marietta, was airlifted to Grady for treatment Friday at approximately 10:20 p.m. but doesn't remember a thing that happened, according to Gordy Wright, spokesman for the Georgia State Highway Patrol. Downer was found in the roadway on Meadowview Rd. in Lithia Springs.  There was no visible evidence on his clothing, no witnesses, no one who heard anything, no roadway evidence and no vehicle evidence at the scene, Wright said in an email. The father of three sustained broken bones, has a severed thigh muscle, and may need bone skin grafts from road rash, according to a report by myfoxatlanta.com. The man's fiancé, Lindsay Davenport, said that it will be at least two months before he'll be able to stand on that leg…

Charges Pending in Accident That Killed Cobb Woman; Cherokee's New Concern: Heroin

An Atlanta Police Officer has been charged with 2nd degree vehicular homicide; an apologetic armed robber victimized a female construction worker near the Georgia Tech campus—read some of the day's top headlines from around metro Atlanta.

A representative from Georgia State Patrol said charges are still pending as officers continue to investigate a Douglas County car accident that killed a Smyrna woman and her Atlanta co-worker. Michelle Chinnis, 35, of Smyrna was driving her Nissan Sentra on a sales call with her co-worker Tracy Downer, 44, of Atlanta when the car was struck on the driver’s side by a tractor trailer. Some witnesses have reported that the driver of the tractor trailer, Robert Sansom, 64, of Colorado, was trying to beat a red light before the collision.
