Ruth Milligan, Neighbor

Ruth, also known as Ruthy to her friends and family, is a native New Yorker.  Raised in the Bronx by Cuban immigrant parents.  She is the younger of two girls born 10 years apart.  She initially started to follow in her sisters footsteps in the field of Fashion and attended the High School of Fashion Industries, sister school to FIT. 

In the summer prior to her senior year she came out to California and was discovered for a dance role in a feature film.  Not finding fashion as the right fit, she jumped at the opportunity to settle in California.  Not long after the release of the film, she was involved in a hit-and-run accident that left her partially paralyzed at the age of 18. 

After a year under hospital and rehab care she enrolled at a 2-year college then transferred to UCLA.  During her time there, she had the opportunity to participate in two study abroad programs that opened her eyes to the world.  She found herself in love with travel and culture.  She spent a summer in Italy and attended classes at the Sorbonne Universite while in France.  She also spent a short time in Spain, and has visited the UK, Canada, Dominican Republic and Mexico.  She graduated with degrees in both English and Psychology.

She and her husband married and purchased their first home in Diamond Bar in 1999.  Now she is a stay-at-home mother of two to her son Adin Riley, 3 and baby girl Hannah, 1. 

She writes regularly as a columnist and blogger.
